In July, Hood County News readers were given the opportunity to vote for the “Best of Hood County” in 95 categories including food, goods and services, and people. The results of votes that were tabulated in August.
This was the second year for online voting and Hood County residents took full advantage of the digital voting. Of the 43,750 votes cast in the different categories, 68% were placed online. Over 1,600 people registered to vote during the three-week long voting period.
The food division drew the most votes with readers voting heavily in the burgers, sweet tea, Asian food and chicken categories. There was a record number of ties with businesses or individuals tying for runner-up in five categories.
“Congratulations to all the winners and to everyone in Hood County who strives to provide exceptional service and top-quality products,” said Jerry Tidwell, Hood County News publisher. “And we appreciate our readers and online visitors that took the time to vote for their favorites.
“Please remember that when you do business locally, your money stays local. Hood County has some of the best merchants working hard every day to meet our local shopping needs, Tidwell said.
The winner of the $100 prize was Kylee Peterson of Granbury. The winner was chosen by a random drawing of all the entries submitted.
